It’s a wrap! The second edition of the Alternativa Film Awards (instagram @alternativa_film), inDrive’s project to recognize professionals from developing film industries has drawn to a close. On 1 December 2024, actor and United Nations SDG Mover for Gender Equality Hannah Al Rashid announced the winning films at a ceremony at the Gelanggang Inovasi dan Kreativitas UGM in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Selected from a shortlist of 25 exceptional films from 14 Asian countries, the winners explore resilience, identity, and societal change.
So without further ado, here they are:
Spotlight Award: Bird of a Different Feather (India) directed by Manohara K, starring Jayashree, Rekha Kudligi, and Manisha.
Future Voice Award: Cu Li Never Cries (Vietnam) directed by Pham Ngoc Lan, starring Minh Chau, Ha Phuong, Xuan An, and Hoang Ha.
Alter Award: Grand Me (Iran) directed by Atiye Zare Arandi.
Nativa Award: The Adamant Girl (India) directed by Vinothraj PS, starring Soori Muthuchamy and Anna Ben.
Shorts Awards: Washhh (Malaysia) directed by Mickey Lai, starring Farah Ahmad, Esha Anum, Kaana Selvam, Li Xuan Siow, and A Cleaning Service (Vietnam) directed by Nguyen Duy Anh.
Resonance Award: How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies (Thailand) directed by Pat Boonnitipat.

In 2025, the project will shift its focus to Latin America, with the third edition to take place in 2026.
