Meet Dini Santria, Country Driver Acquisition Team Lead for Indonesia and winner of a Sinet Hero Award in 2021. Based in Medan, Indonesia, she’s been with inDrive since 2019 and takes pride in being a “people person”, focused on delivering results and passionate about her work.
Past roles: I had the privilege of working as a human resources receptionist at a manufacturing company specialized in the oleochemical and soap industry; and as an accounts payable officer in an outsourcing company.
How I joined inDrive: My relatives informed me of an opportunity to work as an online recruiter at inDrive. I decided to visit the office and had an interview ... Unfortunately the post did not suit me, as it required immediate attendance. However, a few weeks later, inDrive was looking for call center agent supervisors. I was interviewed by Jeison Triana and Alex Mostovshchikov, and was hired in September 2019, in this role.
My responsibility lies in the city launches and offline campaigns for driver acquisitions in Indonesia. This aligns with my previous professional background, where my focus was on engaging individuals with our product. Although ride-hailing was a new industry for me, the fundamentals remained similar – sales and acquisitions. In early 2021, I was entrusted with the position of country team lead, a role that I still hold today.
I am accountable for managing driver acquisitions, activations, and retention. Together with our team members, we execute offline and online projects.
In this capacity, I have gained invaluable experiences. I have had the opportunity to meet numerous individuals who have greatly enhanced my communication skills and ability to interact with people.
What have some of your career highlights been? My greatest career achievement was being chosen as Sinet Hero in the Professional of the Year category, 2021. This accomplishment was made possible through the strong involvement of my team members (thank you for your support!).
What are some of the challenges of your role? Working in a global company, I have encountered several obstacles. Working with people with different cultures brings its own set of challenges, in terms of collaborations and communication. Second, the ever-changing work plan and uncertainties can be quite demanding and require a high level of adaptability. And finally, a centralized system sometimes causes difficulties in scaling up operations due to the high volume of processes and time constraints.
But with the current team we have, we can handle everything together.
A good work environment is one that fosters positivity, collaboration and growth. From my perspective, key factors that contribute to a good work environment are:
- Open and transparent communication that builds trust and understanding among team members;
- A supportive and inclusive culture – this encourages our team members to feel motivated and lets them contribute their best to the company.
- Work-life balance: you need to maintain employee well-being and prevent burnout, and take opportunities for recognition and appreciation.
- And last but not least, positive relations and teamwork.
What do you think contributes to career success? Personal characteristics play a significant role. Ultimately the decision to move forward or not depends on individuals. In my case, I have found that my commitment to constant learning and maintaining a strong focus on my goals have been key contributors to my life and career progress.
I think external factors can have an impact, but more than 70% is due to personal characteristics.
Best career advice: Give 100% to every single thing you do, in order to get 1000% results. Your output is based on your input. The stronger you believe, the more you try, the bigger effort you make, the higher the possibility of success.
Achieving work-life balance: It’s still my homework to try and balance everything. The crucial aspect to achieving work-life balance is dedicating yourself to completing tasks on time, without sacrificing personal time. Frankly speaking, I still encounter such situations occasionally, but to address this I try to prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring ample time for my personal life. It’s getting better now!
Staying motivated: In my opinion, we need to discover our true purpose in life. There are always challenges in our working environments and other sites, but my advice is, don't let anyone distract you, hold on to your positive energy. Have faith in yourself and remain committed to your goal.
The essential point of dealing with challenges is to recognize that every challenge, every obstacle in life, has its own solution. So I try to gain a deep understanding of a challenge’s context… and use the available resources to address it.
Coping with failure: We need to learn, and get some positive message from failure that we can apply in future, and that we can use as a reference so we will not make the same mistake.
And I always look for the positive side of everything in life – that’s how I handle things.
Favorite quote: It comes from Mahatma Gandhi. He said: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever.”
