We really want the drivers who use our platform to succeed on it, and above all, to be safe while doing so. That’s why we created the Safety Pact, a three-way agreement between passengers, drivers and inDrive, to promote awareness of ‘best practice’, if you will, while using a mobility app. This week, we’ve got some tips for drivers…
Tired? Take a break
The temptation to keep driving and earning those extra dollars can be strong, but taking a break is not a suggestion, it's a necessity. When driving, you need all your wits about you
One person - one account
Only you should be using your account - after all, you’ll be accountable for anything that happens while using it (see what we did there?). Passengers are always encouraged to cancel a ride if their driver’s photo doesn’t match the one on the app – just as you are encouraged not to pick up passengers who don’t match their app identities. This is an important part of keeping everyone safe.
No discrimination
inDrive has a strict zero tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination: treat your passengers with respect, no matter who they are. They should do the same for you.
Don't drink and drive
We mean alcohol, obviously. Really, this one’s a no-brainer.
Children on board
Anyone under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult when traveling using the app. Also, if a passenger is traveling with a child, always check if they need a car seat before accepting a request.
Don’t let the fur fly
If you’re allergic to pets, scared of them (or just really don’t like them), rather don’t accept orders from people traveling with their pets.
Accepting Offers
Before you accept a ride, double-check the destination and pick-up point. If either feels fishy or unsafe, let it go.
lso, as we’ve already mentioned, always check that your passenger matches their profile, and if they don’t, rather cancel the ride.
Changed your mind? Let the passenger know and cancel your trip.
During the ride
The first rule of the road: Always buckle up! But you already know that.
Let your passenger know if you need to refuel the car, although really, it's better to check and sort this out beforehand.
Look after your passenger: don't smoke, eat, or drink anything but water in your car, and be ready to change the music, adjust the temperature, or close the window if they reasonably request this.
Tap the shield icon on the main screen if you need to contact emergency services.
Use the same button to share your ride details with a friend or family member.
After the ride
Remember to rate your ride. Your feedback can alert other drivers (and us) if a passenger is repeatedly problematic.
To help prevent any disagreements or unpleasant incidents, avoid criticizing a passenger during the ride. If you give your passenger one star, they'll no longer see your offer requests in their feed, so you’ll never have to deal with them again.
Found a forgotten item in the car? Please get in touch with our support team via email at support@indrive.com or through the in-app chat and we’ll try to return it to its owner.
And that’s it. To all our drivers, we’re glad to have you onboard - we hope your driving takes you where you want to go, and that it’s a safe journey always!
