We’re constantly searching for ways to make ride-hailing safer. However, there are steps that each passenger can take to help make their ride safer and more pleasant - that’s why inDrive recently published our Safety Pact, a three-way agreement to empower passengers and drivers with tips and information.

So here are the basics when it comes to being a five-star passenger (really, all it takes is courtesy, consideration, and a good dash of common sense).

One Person – One Account

Sharing isn't always caring, especially when it comes to your ride-hailing account. Keep your account details to yourself, and don't let others use it. This not only ensures accountability but also helps drivers identify you correctly.

Prohibited Substances

Calling them “prohibited” is a big clue: Don’t carry alcohol in open containers or illegal drugs with you on your ride.

Kids must be accompanied

Children or persons under the age of 18 must always be accompanied by an adult. If you need a child seat, include this in your request.

Riding in cars with Pets

If you're bringing your furry friend along, include this information in your request, so you don’t surprise a driver who happens to have an allergy or a phobia (or is just a little nervous of your pet python). And if they accept your request, make their job easier by bringing a carrier or a blanket to cover the car seat, reducing the risk of any mess.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T

We have zero tolerance towards discrimination. This one really should go without saying: Treat your driver with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, gender, or any other characteristic. Remember that your driver is providing you with a service, and that a little courtesy goes a long way.

Before Your Ride

  • Take a moment to double-check the driver's details, including the license plate, car model, and driver photo. If anything doesn't match, don't hesitate to cancel the ride - better safe than sorry.
  • Provide precise pick-up and drop-off locations, and wait in a secure, well-lit area.
  • Provide any special instructions, for example, if you have more passengers, bulky luggage, or you’re traveling with a pet, mention it in the comments section when you book.

During Your Ride

  • You know it: Always buckle up!
  • If you need to change your destination or add stops, communicate with your driver. Keep in mind that this may affect your fare.
  • Respect your driver's vehicle – no smoking, eating, or drinking anything besides water in the car.
  • Feel free to ask for minor adjustments like changing the music, adjusting the temperature, or closing the window, but ensure your requests work for both of you.
  • Share your ride details with a friend or family member for an extra layer of safety.
  • Use the shield icon on the main screen if you need to to contact emergency services.
  • Check your belongings before you get out.

After Your Ride

  • Your feedback matters – remember to rate your ride, as future passengers may rely on this information in choosing their driver.
  • Try to avoid criticizing your driver during the ride; if you're truly dissatisfied, give them a one-star rating at the end, and they will not see any future requests from you in their feed. (We’ll also look into why your trip was so unsatisfactory - enough complaints will get a driver banned).
  • If you leave something behind in the car, contact our support team via email: support@indrive.com or through the in-app chat.

By following these tips, you'll not only have a smoother ride-hailing experience but also make the journey more enjoyable for your driver. It's a win-win for everyone involved. Happy travels!
