Starting over isn’t easy — especially when the world seems to think your time has passed. But for Liliana Martínez Sánchez from San Luis Potosí, change became a new beginning. After moving back to Mexico at 50 and facing unemployment, she discovered that movement — both literal and emotional — could get her life back on track.

Starting over at 50 is scary. But not moving is even scarier.

I’m Liliana Martínez Sánchez. I was born in Guadalajara, raised in Ciudad Victoria, and now I live in San Luis Potosí. I’m proud to be an inDrive driver — something I never imagined I’d say.

Return to Mexico

For almost 20 years, I lived in Toronto. Then, five years ago, I decided to return to Mexico. Family brought me back. But I quickly learned that, after 40, finding a job isn’t easy — and at 51, no one wanted to hire me. It was overwhelming. I didn’t know what to do or how I’d earn a living. I felt lost and depressed, convinced that I wouldn’t make it. And then, inDrive came to my rescue.

It all started with my daughter. She told me, “Mom, you have the personality for this.” I didn’t believe her at first. But then she shared how her friend’s husband supported a family of seven by driving with inDrive — and I thought, if he can do it, so can I.

It’s all about the passengers

Now, five years later, I’ve met incredible passengers — people who’ve become clients and even friends. Some call me “Auntie,” others “Lila,” and some just “Ma.” Many get into my car not just for a ride, but for a little encouragement, a kind word, or advice.

This job takes empathy and patience. But the reward is huge. Every time I check the app and see good reviews, I know I’m doing something right.

What I love most is the freedom

I choose my rides, my routes, and my passengers. I decide which neighborhoods I drive through. No one forces me to accept anything — that’s my decision. That’s my safety. That’s freedom.

If you’re a woman thinking about trying this, my advice is simple: go for it. It’s not a risk — it’s an opportunity. An opportunity for financial independence. For freedom and control over your time. For self-worth.

At 56, I wake up every day and think, I still have it. I never give up. I move, I think, I do. And when I say “I can do this,” it’s because I’ve learned that movement is life — and inDrive helped me find it again.
