inDrive is all about the importance of freedom of choice. But freedom of choice comes with great responsibility, and nowhere more so than with the choices we make when driving. Choosing to wear a seatbelt or a helmet, for example. Texting while driving.
Or getting behind the wheel when you’ve had a few drinks.
In 2023, one-third of all traffic deaths in Brazil were the result of drinking and driving, according to CISA and ONSV. It’s a simple decision, but the outcome could haunt you forever.
Yellow May is a global movement to raise awareness about road safety, supported in Brazil by the National Road Safety Observatory (ONSV). In 2025, we are working with the theme "The best trip is one where everyone arrives safely" – and we believe that each of us can help make this a reality. That's why this year, inDrive supported the campaign in Brazil with special actions and an educational blitz.
To start, on May 18, we took advantage of the classic Flamengo x Botafogo game at Maracanã to promote Yellow May: almost 60,000 fans saw our message on the stadium's LED panels, we got more than 50 publications in the national press and more than 2 million views on the collabs with Flamengo on Instagram. Even the players' warm-up shirts displayed the initiative's iconic yellow ribbon!
Next, we took to the streets of busy areas of São Paulo, where we had pedestrians compete in safety quizzes to win prizes. We also distributed discount coupons for travel through the app, as well as educational materials on safer driving habits and messages about Yellow May to all of our Brazilian users. All with one purpose: to empower people to choose wisely.
So wear your seatbelt. Wait until you’ve arrived to check your phone. And never drink and drive.
Besides, with the rise of apps like ours, there’s really no need to drive while tipsy. When you know you’re going to have alcohol, use a ride-hailing service instead. It just takes a little bit of planning ahead.
As a member of the ONSV Yellow Ribbon program and an official supporter of Yellow May, inDrive reinforces its role in promoting safer and more responsible mobility. To learn more, visit: https://www.onsv.org.br/maioamarelo/conheca-o-movimento.
